So, uh, this is punctual... My Pictures from the opening round of the WEC at Silverstone for your amusement/browsing/viewing pleasures:
I spent the whole weekend trying to get both GTs in 1 shot. They finally obliged about 4 hours into the race.
Now repeat after me: Dirty Porsche is Best Porsche.

They think about 50,000 but at Silverstone that amount can get lost so quickly, cause its such a big site with so many viewing areas. I’ve been going for 4 years now, and that’s the busiest I’ve ever seen it.

They said on the TV feed that it was 51,000 over the weekend, about 10,000 up on 2015 race

The front profile of that GT is all kinds of right. wow. As is the side profile of the vettes. ‘Merica (ok, canada on the GT lol, but still)

I can only wish I had more kidneys... :(
But the 100-400mm coupled with an APS-C camera should be the perfect compromise for “affordable” racing photography. Along with a Full Frame for pit action with let’s say a 35mm 1.4 and I’d be set :)

100-400 on the 7d Mk ii is a pretty lovely combination. 16-35mm for the up close paddock stuff and the 24-105 for everything else and i’m pretty much set. I mean, obviously i need at least 3 or 4 more lenses, because thats life.

Would have been nice if Manthey was around or if Porsche NA was there, but eh...
Anyway... Love shot there, though this just reinforces the fact that Aston Martin is a third wheel in GTE come Le Mans.

Yeah the lack of full factory Porsches was odd. But the Proton/ Abu Dhabi team were there, they just weren’t quite on the pace of the Ferraris and Fords, and even the Astons.

Silverstone capacity is 150,000. However, an April meeting won’t bring in the crowds as much as an F1 meeting. It’s great for spectating, as you could wander freely around rather than being trapped in one place.

Great shots! Living my dream. I really badly want to go to some kind of actual race, preferably the 12 hours of Sebring. Unfortunately it will probably be a dream for at least another year, but I do have a dope 24 hours of LeMans party planned.

Ha, fairly distinctive either way. I need to sort out what I’m doing on my end right now, planning on going but not sure what I’m planning on doing yet. Should probably get on it though as i’m guessing accreditation closes pretty soon.
